Macacos History
We are a small family from southern Brazil who came to Sweden in 1992. We felt that something was missing here: Brazil's delicious and useful fruits, including Acaí, which is one of the world's most useful. So we went back to Brazil, to the Amazon rainforest in search of the purple gold…
Macacos Acaí was born!
Once in the Amazon, we discovered something more than the “only” the acai fruit. We were served 8 juices in different colors on a tray, where each juice was made with a fruit from the area. These fruits told them, are used as medicine by the locals and the forest is their own pharmacy.
We had never tasted anything like it and were fascinated by the healing properties and fantastic flavors. What if we could pack the Amazon in a bag and share it with the world? That was the idea that was created and the family and Macacos were born that day!
Macacos was growing
However, we faced a major challenge: the Amazon is very far from Sweden. In order not to lose the taste and all the nutrients in the acai fruit, you must eat them immediately - or freeze them. We chose the latter. With our freezing process, it is therefore like eating the fruits on site in the rainforest!
But we were not content to just offer frozen Acaí; we wanted to make it easier and smoother to make our own Acaí Bowl. After 8 months of work, we finally managed to crack the code and produce a ready-mixed Acaí Bowl in tetrapack - without losing any of the acai fruit's nutrients! Our "Acaí Ready To Eat" is thus a completely unique product that means you do not have to mix and can pour your finished Acaí directly out of the package! Perfect to eat instead of yogurt or to use as a base for smoothies!
Macaco's journey has only just begun and our products have already become part of everyday life for many Swedes. Today we are already working with two of the superfruits: Acai and pitaya. Macacos does more than offer Acaí
We make a positive contribution to the Amazon rainforest, and you do it by eating Acaí!
The Amazon rainforest is called the "Lungs of the Earth" and is central to the planet's oxygen production. It is important that the population that lives there and takes care of the forest also feels good. The locals informed us that, because the forest is so large (20 times larger than the whole of Sweden), the nearest hospital is often several hours away from where they live. Sometimes small problems such as lack of fresh water can lead to serious consequences. Together with the locals, we then came up with the solution to use the approximately 7000 km long river network to build ambulance boats! By developing and building ambulance boats, residents can get first aid during transport to the hospitals. These ambulance boats will be equipped with a good engine and knowledgeable staff!
As if this were not enough, the acai trees live in symbiosis with the other trees in the rainforest. They are dependent on the entire ecosystem and because the locals make so much money from selling acai, this has created labor for the locals and many prefer to work with acai instead of clearing forest. So when you eat an Acai Bowl here in Sweden, you are the end of a positive chain, which starts already in the Amazon…
We Eat Acai because it’s good, healthy and to save the world!
Since we launched, 1,500 hectares of forest that were previously completely devastated have been restored. Today, acai trees and other trees and plants grow there. We want to give back to the forest, which has given us all these delicious and useful fruits!

You provide the personal information yourself in connection with a trade fair, a meeting, that you fill in a request for a newsletter on our website or a company request.
